Classic Photographer
I grew up in a farm town in the Sacramento Valley. Until moving to Boise's North End in 1984, I had lived in Yolo County, California.
I've been interested in photos forever. I collect old photos. I love the history contained within their borders. I'm a geek, so in 1999 I bought a 2 mega pixel Kodak camera. Not until I had this camera did I gain a clue that I had a creative side. My education began with the first press of that camera's shutter button. Press, see, press, read, see, read, press... My wife encouraged me to enter my photos in the Western Idaho Fair. Three ribbons from four entries. Wow! In 2003 I became a member of Boise's Art Source Gallery. Next, I became a member of the Idaho Photographic Workshop. Later I was accepted into the Gypsy Gallery. I am a member of the National Association of Photoshop Professionals.
I create art from anything I can see. I capture my imagination in photography. My subjects are diverse: abstracts, landscapes, architecture, fabric, and especially - Boise. I develop, mount and frame my images.
I am self taught. I learn by pressing the shutter button, reading and working with fellow artists.
As a member of the Art Source Gallery my work is displayed at 1015 Main and the Boise Airport gallery. I occasionally have a tent at the Capital City Public Saturday Market. I do group shows with the Gypsy Gallery and the I.P.W. I've shown at Satchel's, C.W. Moore Plaza, Hyde Park Gallery, Alaska Building. I have artwork in the permanent collection of Boise's Visual Chronicle. My photos hang in collections in Boise, Seattle, Denver, Phoenix, New York, Atlanta, San Francisco, Sao Paulo, and Melbourne.
