Burnished Pottery Artist
I was born in the Midwest and moved to Tucson,
Arizona in the middle of eighth grade. It was then
that I saw the beautiful burnished pottery made by
the Native American Indians of the Southwestern
United States. I instantly fell in love with the warm,
smooth finish and the fine carving on these
incredible pieces of pottery.
However, it wasn't until many years later that I took my first pottery
class at Boise State University and studied with the internationally
recognized ceramicist, John Takehara. This was the beginning. I
was smitten with creating with clay.
I love working with clay. I love the feeling of the textures in different
clay bodies and how each clay type has its own personality. I love
guiding and forming clay into a wonderful shape that will result in a
pot that will bring pleasure to its owner. I enjoy making all sorts of
clay vessels from items with every day uses like cookie jars, bowls,
coffee mugs, vases, and lidded pots to the labor intensive and
unusual burnished pottery, black (smoked) burnished pottery, and
burnished horse hair pottery.
I have been accepted into juried shows and have won awards and
prizes for my burnished pottery. I continue to experiment with new
techniques and designs and I hope that my pottery brings enjoyment
to those who own it, as it is all made with love and joy on my part. It
is a pleasure and a blessing to be able to create such fun and unique
pieces for people to enjoy.

processes. Thank you for looking at my pottery.
May you have continued blessing in your life.
