Wire Wrap Jewelry

I began working in an Orthodontic Office at 18 and continued until I was 30.  I never knew that what I was learning there would be the core element in what I now do in my hobby some 30 years later.

It all started with a boss that taught me to be a creative worker. We made what we needed out of raw material instead of ordering the finished product. Therefore, as the 12 years passed by I became an expert wire bender. I handled all weights and strengths of wire. It was really very exciting to see raw material become something useable in a patient’s mouth, something useful that I had made.

One of my hobbies during this time was picking up beautiful rocks I would see on my walks. Though I knew little about them I was still fascinated by their array of colors and shapes. Shortly after having been widowed, I met a gentleman who had an encyclopedia mind when it came to rock and when asked he said he was a lapidarian. This meant he liked hunting for rocks - looking at rocks - licking rocks, etc.; more than anyone I knew. Not only did we become fast friends but Randy and I were married a year later. I am now a junior lapidarian and grow in knowledge daily.

The love of my life and I go rock hounding together. I knew I really had the bug when I was picking up Montana Agate along side the road near Glendive, MT as Randy drove. You see, my only light was the headlights of our truck. It was such a good day and I truly wasn't ready for it to end. Randy said that he was delighted that he had married someone with true rocks in her blood just like him. He tells me it's the happiest time in his life being the teacher of such an enthralled, interested student.

With Randy as my mentor and cheerleader, I turn his beautifully cut, shaped and polished rock into creations for the minds eye to be worn as accessories by the lovely people who enjoy my designs. I hope you enjoy wearing these one of a kind designs as much as I enjoyed making them. God Bless
